This webinar is open to UHCW staff who have work they would like to publish, regardless of their experience or stage of writing. The session will offer delegates pragmatic support to enable them to publish their professional or academic work.

By the end of the Masterclass delegates will:

• Understand barriers to writing and publishing their work
• Have awareness of the broader context of publishing
• Be able to locate a relevant Journal of their choice and follow structured author guidelines
• Plan article content according to word count
• Understand the intricacies of manuscript preparation
• Be aware of the stages in the writing, editing and publishing process
• Gain an understanding of why articles may be rejected
• Distinguish their responsibilities throughout the writing, publishing and editing process

Liz Lees-Deutsch is an Associate Professor for Nursing, Centre for Care Excellence. Over the last 22 years she has led and participated in the publication of commentaries, audits, quality improvements, case studies and international research. To date, in collaboration with her colleagues she has authored/co-authored 103 publications, 2 books, book chapters and national policy. In 2018 Liz wrote her PhD Thesis, which taught her a whole new way of writing! Liz serves on the editorial panel of a specialist journal and is a peer reviewer for several national and international nursing journals.

Helga Perry has over 40 years’ experience as a librarian and is currently Electronic Systems & Resources Librarian at UHCW. She specialises in making access to online full text as user-friendly as possible, is a member of WikiProject Medicine, facilitates UHCW staff publication in BMJ Case Reports and is a peer reviewer for Journal of Medical Internet Research.
