The target audience is nurses, clinicians, healthcare staff, students and anyone who is interested. The resources ClinicalKey and ClinicalKey for Nursing will feature and a certificate of attendance provided.

The topics that the workshop can focus on are:

  • Acts of inclusion in healthcare
  • Unconscious bias
  • Management of difficult conversations
  • Cultural Intelligence
  • Intersectionality
  • The future of healthcare (trends and tools)

What is Project: Empower?

Elsevier’s Project Empower started during the pandemic when hospitals in the UK requested more content about ethnicity and its impact in healthcare. Elsevier provided content, online activities about cultural intelligence and spaces to promote dialogue. Then in 2021, it was expanded to other territories (like Brazil and South Africa) and other intersectional topics (like acts of inclusion, difficult conversations, unconscious bias) having the first onsite event with workshops at the Florence Nightingale Foundation Scholars Event in London; which was followed by a UK Tour visiting different NHS Trusts in Summer 2022.

Who is the guest speaker?

Gladys López - Customer Success Manager for Nordics and UK; Founder and Lead of EMPOWER @Elsevier

Working at Elsevier- Clinical Solutions for 6 years and is based in Amsterdam. She is a committee member of EMBRACE and the Founder and Lead of EMPOWER- Project who aims to increase the quality of healthcare for ethnic minorities.
