The 4th-10th October is Libraries Week and the UHCW Library team are pleased to announce we will be hosting two exciting events to mark the occasion!
UHCW Library Open Day: Tuesday 5th October 10am – 2pm
All UHCW staff are welcome to drop-in to the library during our Open Day, where we will be showcasing everything the library service offers. Find out more about our great fiction and wellbeing collections, our lunchtime book club and the variety of e-resources available to support you at work.
Members of the team will also be available to answer your questions about knowledge skills training, patient information leaflets and the CEBIS evidence searching service. If you make a special trip to visit between 12pm and 2pm, there will also be plenty of refreshments available to welcome you to the Library, whether you are a newcomer or regular.
BookLove Carnival: Friday 8th October 11am – 3pm
The fantastic BookLove Carnival will be returning to UHCW to celebrate Libraries Week and Black History Month in a joint venture with the Library and the Equality and Diversity Team.
After a successful visit last year, BookLove will be bringing their multicultural travelling book carnival back to the CSB in a celebration of BAME culture, heritage and identity. There will be a huge selection of anti-racist, inclusive and bilingual books for children and adults available to browse and buy on the day, or you can download their current catalogue here.
BookLove have also kindly provided UHCW staff with a code for anyone wishing to pre-order books for collection on the day. Simply place your order online via thisisbooklove.com and enter the code BOOKLOVEFORUHCWNHS at checkout.
With only 1% of characters in UK children’s books being Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME), BookLove are on a mission to improve access to culturally inclusive reading materials for children and adults alike. Founder Samantha Williams will be sharing her story in a talk at 1.30pm on the day.
We'll be sharing more detail about these events next week so keep an eye out on our blog and our Twitter feed for more information. We hope you'll be able to drop by and attend one of our events and celebrate Libraries Week with us!
